Size Does Matter

This week we saw the first real increase in the size of things. It really happened in a rather short amount of time but wow did it ever. My wife noticed that it feels like a softball. It's kind of strange but in a good way. It means life is getting on with things.

I have been asking my wife to start taking belly pics so we can see the progression and so we got some yesterday. It makes it the first day of the 16th week so we'll probably do one a month so we can compare. I think it's a good way to look back at the progress. I'll post when we get two to compare.

Amnio Visit Done!

So this wasn't as bad as was forecast. My wife and I had the Amnio done to make sure everything is going well and so far it looks good. We asked for them to try to find out if it's a boy or girl but the baby was curled up very high and was not showing very well. One of the Doctors did lean towards thinking it was a girl but we won't know for sure for another 2 weeks. That makes for a great New Years gift!

The ultrasound was very cool. They looked at a bunch if different angles and it was neat to see the head and the heart and everything. They showed the flow of the blood. Very cool.

I am still hoping that all goes well and nothing strange comes up when we get the results. I'll admit that I am starting to get more nervous. This is a feeling I have never had and it's actually pretty neat.

Kickin' Butt.

My wife has had challenges and overcame them but this new one is proving tough. She is not feeling well and this hopefully will pass. She claims to think that nausea and feeling like crap must mean the baby is doing well. So either way, someone's getting their butt kicked.

Pretty soon, it will be my butt that gets kicked so I guess I shouldn't get too anxious. I just hope that this passes quickly and we get to the next stage without too many issues.

Holy S@:("$(&;/(&!!!!

Well now it is official. Yup, we are going to have a new member of the family now. It won't be for another 7+ months, but it is there. I can't really put into words how I feel right now but shock and awe seems close. I guess that could be why my wife described the ultrasound pic as a "pear" but I thought it also looked like a grenade. How appropriate.

Pear, or Grenade? What do you think?

So we got to the Doctor's office with plenty of time to spare so we waited and read all the info packets they gave us. We got called and went back and did the normal pre-visit stuff. Finally the doctor came in and she and my wife talked. My wife had her in the past and this was I guess their "reunion" because the doctor moved to a new office and my wife found where she was located because a friend is also pregnant. I felt very relaxed and glad that she got back with thus doc. Doc S was very nice to both of us and seemed to know her stuff.

Now came the fun time. The first ultrasound. Yes! Only one little one, and it's heart is beating very fast. And it's where it's supposed to be. Yeah!! So we know now and everything is starting to progress. Wow is it ever. We won't find out anything more until the next visit but you'll know when I do.

The First Visit

So here I sit in the parking lot waiting before the first visit. You probably have figured out what's going on by now, but I still don't want to divulge too much. Not yet at least.
It still is quite shocking and it hasn't set in yet but probably will after today. I'll let you know more soon. Keep your eyes open.

A small piece of sharing..

Staying out later than my normal bedtime lead me to a weird morning. I got up later than usual and chose to not do the set morning rituals, other than the natural ones mind you. I came out to welcome the morning with a pre-workout breakfast of pasta and eggs and noticed the wife was not around. Ummmm, this was weird. I thought she might have gone over to her parents so I just hung out watching TV.

Then she came out of the bedroom and this surprised me. Wow. I guess she snuck back to bed when I was in the bathroom. Pretty sneaky!

That's when things got interesting. She wasn't feeling too well so I made a quick trip to the store for some remedies. Mind you, my morning routine has not gone right yet. When I got back we sat around and watched some pathetic excuse for a football game and it hit me.

Thanks for sharing, I thought. We were supposed to go for a 2 hour run but after the game we shortened it to an hour. That really sucked. Wow, what's going on?? Well hell! I should probably eat something. So after doing just that, I started feeling better. I hope it gets better.

So it begins!

This is the start of a very long journey. I will try and keep accounts of all the strange things along the way.

Come and join me!
